Description of the Programme
What is OT?
Operación Triunfo (OT) is a contest in tertiary reality format, created in Spain by Toni Cruz and the brothers Josep María Mainat and Joan Manuel Mainat under his producer Gestmusic, which is part of Endemol. It was rebroadcast in more than 50 countries under different names. The space aims to form singers and in it a series of contestants demonstrate their skills as artists at a live gala week after week. Each week one of the contestants is eliminated by the jury until six of them reach the final, in which according to the rules three of them would get a record.
Expulsions occur when two contestants have been nominated. In the following gala, the public must vote, and these votes are the ones who decide who is still in the academy.
The first country to broadcast this program was Spain in 2001 through Televisión Española. The first edition was known as Operación Triunfo 2001.
